Royal Award for Lovehoney
Bath-based sex toy retailer Lovehoney have made a deliberate effort to expand overseas in the last three years. They now have 6 websites, including fully translated French and German sites. Warehouses in the US and Australia are about to open, and all the effort has paid off; sales have grown by 200%, and overseas sales almost trebled according to its most recently filed accounts.
It’s no wonder, then, that the company was named as a winner of the Queen’s award for Enterprise in International Trade on the 21st of April—the Queen’s 90th birthday.
Owners Richard Longhurst and Neal Slatford also attended a reception held at Buckingham Palace on the 14th of July.
They are particularly pleased as the Queen’s award emblem can now be used in their advertising and marketing, proving the success of Lovehoney as a company both to business associates and customers.
Lovehoney has seen massive growth over the last four years, especially after sales were boosted due to their acquisition of the official license to make 50 Shades of Grey products. The company has a £60m turnover and employs more than 160 people, seeing a 79% increase in profits over the last year.
