THE BUSINESS PULSE TRACKER SURVEY IS NOW CLOSED.

Help us by completing the B&NES Business Pulse Tracker Survey. The purpose of the survey is to measure sentiment amongst businesses in Bath & North East Somerset and track their views and experiences in response to the pandemic over time. This quarterly survey will also help Bath & North East Somerset Council to design interventions and monitor the impact of Covid-19 on the local economy. 

Employers to sign up for the cycle to work scheme

Bath & North East Somerset Council has joined thousands of other organisations and signed up to the Government's successful Cycle To Work initiative with Cyclescheme. Cycle to Work is designed to encourage employees to cycle to work – the healthy, sustainable, carbon-free way to get to work.

Cyclescheme enables your employees to save 25-39% of the cost of a new bike & accessories whilst also spreading the cost. It's completely free to join and easy to administer online.

Survival guide for food businesses to stay healthy post-lockdown

Support for the hospitality sector to keep customers safe and businesses healthy following the reopening of their premises is on offer at a webinar on Monday (July 20).

The ‘Survival guide to COVID-19’ event organised by Bath & North East Somerset Council will bring together restaurants, cafés, takeaways and food outlets to explore the best way to manage the new measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus and how to avoid an outbreak.

£300K boost for innovation centre proposal

A plan for a new city centre innovation centre developed with the University and four key partners has received a £300,000 boost.  The proposed facility would offer skills training, business incubation and digital labs on a site adjacent to Bath Quays.

The proposed I-START facility on Bath College’s City Centre campus would house Bath College, the SETsquared Bath Innovation Centre, and include space for the Institute of Coding to deliver courses.

Discretionary grant accepting applications until 5pm on 17 July

The discretionary fund is for charities and small or micro businesses who were not previously eligible for the business grant scheme set up in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The fund is accepting applications until 5pm on Friday 17 July 2020.

This discretionary fund is to support the following:

VAT: reduced rate for hospitality, holiday accommodation and attractions

If you’re a VAT registered business, check if you can temporarily reduce the rate of VAT on supplies relating to hospitality, accommodation, or admission to certain attractions.

The government made an announcement on 8 July 2020 allowing VAT registered businesses to apply a temporary 5% reduced rate of VAT to certain supplies relating to:

  • hospitality
  • hotel and holiday accommodation
  • admissions to certain attractions

The temporary reduced rate will apply to supplies that are made between 15 July 2020 and 12 January 2021.

Maintaining records of staff, customers and visitors to support NHS Test and Trace

Organisations in certain sectors should collect details and maintain records of staff, customers and visitors on their premises to support NHS Test and Trace.

The UK is currently experiencing a public health emergency as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. It is therefore critical that organisations take a range of measures to keep everyone safe.

Keynsham social distancing measures

Residents and businesses are being advised about a temporary closure of the road of Keynsham High Street from July 13 to provide more space for social distancing shopping and visiting the local shops.

The road will be closed to vehicles every day between 9am and 5pm except for Dial-a-Ride access.

Cyclists will be able to use the road in both directions at all times. The High Street bus stop will be relocated to Ashton Way.
