BANES businesses up for EWOE awards

6 Jan 2020

The Enterprising West of England ‘Ones to Watch’ 2020 Awards is a celebration of the West of England’s most exciting and inspirational entrepreneurs, start-ups and SMEs who have received support from the Enterprising West of England Programme and are set for great things as we head into the 2020's.

27 outstanding entrepreneurs and small businesses have been shortlisted in nine separate award categories, recognising the best of Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset, as well as the region’s most promising BAME, young and female entrepreneurs.

The likes of Freelance Mum, Weston-super-Mare PRIDE and Bath Carnival will compete for the contribution to the place of the West of England award, which celebrates the contribution of businesses that put back into the community, whereas Groovy Grains and Too Many T-Shirts are among the nominees for the sustainable business prize.

The Enterprising West of England ‘Ones to Watch’ 2020 Awards will be held on 29 January at the Bristol Old Vic and will showcase the best and brightest entrepreneurial talent the West of England has to offer and help to demonstrate why this region has been named the best place to start and run a business. Bath & North East Somerset Council has been a funding partner on the project and we at Invest in bath are delighted to see so many local companies having their achievements recognised.

Cassie Yates, Project Manager for Enterprising West of England - the event’s organisers - comments:

“Since 2017, the Enterprising West of England programme, supported by the European Regional Developement Fund,  has delivered first class business support to small and medium sized enterprises throughout the region. For many budding entrepreneurs and business owners in the West of England, we are their first port of call when trying to get a venture off the ground. This puts us in a unique position to be able to talent spot some of the West of England’s rising stars, who these awards are designed showcase and celebrate.”

Kath Senior, founder of EcoStardust – a biodegradable glitter company based in Bristol – which is nominated for the sustainable business award comments:

“I am delighted to be nominated for this award alongside a number of fantastic businesses pioneering some truly innovative products and services.

“We have a wealth of entrepreneurial talent across the West of England and these awards will help showcase and raise awareness of the achievements of our business community, which has been brought together by Enterprising West of England.”
