£300K boost for innovation centre proposal

A plan for a new city centre innovation centre developed with the University and four key partners has received a £300,000 boost.  The proposed facility would offer skills training, business incubation and digital labs on a site adjacent to Bath Quays.

The proposed I-START facility on Bath College’s City Centre campus would house Bath College, the SETsquared Bath Innovation Centre, and include space for the Institute of Coding to deliver courses.

Discretionary grant accepting applications until 5pm on 17 July

The discretionary fund is for charities and small or micro businesses who were not previously eligible for the business grant scheme set up in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The fund is accepting applications until 5pm on Friday 17 July 2020.

This discretionary fund is to support the following:

Maintaining records of staff, customers and visitors to support NHS Test and Trace

The UK is currently experiencing a public health emergency as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. It is therefore critical that organisations take a range of measures to keep everyone safe.

Keynsham social distancing measures

Residents and businesses are being advised about a temporary closure of the road of Keynsham High Street from July 13 to provide more space for social distancing shopping and visiting the local shops.

The road will be closed to vehicles every day between 9am and 5pm except for Dial-a-Ride access.

Cyclists will be able to use the road in both directions at all times. The High Street bus stop will be relocated to Ashton Way.

Council webinar on reopening the high street

Bath and North East Council is hosting a webinar which takes place on Thursday 11th June 2020 at 5pm. This webinar will see council leader Dine Romero alongside a group of panellists who will provide an update and take your questions on Bath & North East Somerset Council's approach to the “Reopening our High Streets Safely”. We have availability for up to 100 attendees, allocation will be a first come first served basis.

The last parts of the Bath Quays bridge have arrived in Bath from Belgium

The last two parts of the Bath Quays bridge superstructure have arrived in Bath from Belgium – and residents will soon be invited to name the bridge in a new online competition. 

The vehicles which arrived on the 19th May follow the delivery of the first two sections of the bridge last week and travelled via the same route on the Zeebrugge-Tilbury ferry, with police escort on arrival in Bath due to the width of the vehicles. 

MoveGB launches Move At Home

MoveGB flew the nest from the Innovation Centre in 2018 after being residential members for six years. During the pandemic they have been quick to adapt their subscription-based fitness platform to run completely online which in turn has kept their instructors and independent gyms with much needed revenue.
