Help shape your business to contribute towards a sustainable economy - join the STBAH for their Sustainable Economy event: Regenerating Natural Systems
The Sustainable Technologies Business Acceleration Hub (STBAH) a programme funded through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) which provides sector specific business support to startups and SMEs, have been running a series of linked events exploring the approaches to creating a sustainable economy.
As part of the West of England Low Carbon Challenge Fund, the West of England Combined Authority has a £1 million Green Business Grants fund to help small and medium sized businesses improve their energy efficiency. This is part of their commitment to achieving clean and inclusive growth.
How much grant is available?
Cashback grants of £1,000-£15,000 per business are available to cover 40% of eligible costs. You can also get a free energy survey if you need one.
A former vacant shop unit in Twerton High Street, Bath has been transformed into a community-led pop-up creative space and workshop for Bath’s Carnival team.
The team will use the space over the next few weeks to work with volunteers and professional artists to make costumes for the July carnival.
The project has been delivered with support from Bath & North East Somerset Council and funded by the West of England Combined Authority as part of the regional ‘Love our High Streets’ pilot which seeks to re-vitalise and re-think the way we use local high streets.
Due to the high levels of office to residential conversion within the Bath City area Bath and North East Somerset Council have implemented an Article 4 Direction.
Following the consultation in May 2018, Bath and North East Somerset Council have implemented an Article 4 Direction on Office to Residential conversations. This direction came into effect on 24th May 2019. The Article 4 Direction removes permitted development rights for change of use from offices to residential within the central area of Bath.

The West of England Combined Authority (WECA) is looking for a business person to work with every school in Bath & North East Somerset and the West of England, developing and implementing their strategy, as well as providing links to the wider business community. This includes special schools as well as mainstream secondary schools. WECA is asking middle and senior managers to volunteer for this strategic role: to share their expertise, work closely with the named Careers Leader and Senior Leadership Team in the school
