Business rate cuts for 800 Bath and North East Somerset retailers

Up to 800 retailers across Bath and North East Somerset are being invited to apply for a discretionary discount to their business rate bills which could see them cut by a third.

The Government announced in its Autumn Budget that over the next two financial years, 2019/20 and 2020/21, retail premises with a rateable value of £51,000 or less could be awarded a discount of up to one third of their bill.

Call for workplace health champions

Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Public Health Team is recruiting new workplace health champions in businesses across Bath and North East Somerset. The team have a limited number of places on a one day free accredited training for employees wishing to become health champions (worth up to £250 per place) on Monday 21st January 2019, alongisde free ongoing support.

Health champions are a great way to raise the profile of health and wellbeing in your business and to raise the profile of your business locally.

New premises for Mayden

Bath-based software company Mayden has just moved from One Widcombe Crescent to new offices at The Old Dairy in Oldfield Park, Bath. 

The move comes as a result of the company’s sustained growth from its inception in 2006 to a team of 68 people today, including developers, product experts, account managers, administrators and communications specialists.

Digital bus ticket scheme for West of England

A new digital travel top-up service has been launched in Bath and Bristol. Payzone and First West of England have teamed up to provide a convenient and accessible retail channel to support off-bus cash payments across its services.

Using the latest ITSO Smart Ticketing technology provided by our partners, Rambus, the new initiative  allows customers to pay for their bus tickets at any Payzone outlet in the region. Their ticket is loaded onto their smartcard at our Payzone tablet and is then ready for use on First WoE bus services across the region.
